-Spanish. I want to speak more of it, learn more of it, read more of it, write more of it. I just want to immerse myself in this beautiful language that I feel so privileged to be able to say I can communicate in. I visited Madrid and my passion grew stronger, to indescribable lengths. I will live there in my lifetime. I have to.
-Get through first year. I'm already almost there, I can do it.
-I want to travel. Yes, yet another person throwing that word around 'travel...travel...travel' But I want to do it. Praying I get the discover EU internal pass. A place I've been wanting to go to desperately is Lisbon, it looks beautiful and laidback and historic and has pretty tiles, yellow trams and custard tarts. I want to visit Central Europe: Prague and Budapest. I want to spend days lazing on hidden beaches around Menorca, the Balearics lesser known younger sister. I want to go to more parts of Spain: Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid and Sevilla (again)
-I'm living so close to Cornwall, I would love to take a week or two in the summer following the end of term visiting the beaches around there and exploring the Jurassic coast, tanning, swimming and surfing.
-Venture more into art and art history. I continually regret not taking a short course in Art History that my sixth form offered and this regret was intensified whenever I had to test my friends who were studying it in the run up to exams. I love looking at art and matching it to its corresponding time period, the links between a portrait and the year in which it was painted is so fascinating to me and I truly do see it as another medium into studying history in general.
-Continue viewing my blog instagram as a place to post photos that I like, share what I'm doing and upload fun insta stories. Viewing it as anything other than that sucks the fun out of it.
-Hit 200k views. I'm at 150k at the time of writing, I can *so* do it. Reach 400 followers on bloglovin. I don't see my blog as a massive potential business and gateway to becoming an 'influencer' of some sort. No way. To me it's a place where I can write and share photos and stories from my own life and the community I have here is invaluable.
-Do something different with my hair...dye it a bit lighter or get some highlights into it.
-Read more. It's another one that everyone has put on their list but I really want to get through more books this year, I’ve got a growing list of books I want to get through this year- no specific number as I definitely don’t need the pressure of 40+ books looming over me. I just want to read more and if I can get through just 5 books this year I’ll feel accomplished.
-Stop worrying about things and take life as it comes at me. 'Ride the wave until it breaks' Everything that is meant to be, will be.
-I want to post on here more often, my blog posting schedule is very sporadic and I don’t really have a set framing for my blog posts. I think the ship has already sailed for my beauty posts and I much prefer sharing skincare or the few makeup products I really like. I would say the same for my fashion posts, as much as I love putting together outfits sharing them on here is such a hassle. I want to post more of what I love: life updates, travel diaries (my actual fave posts) and those random lifestyle posts.
-I hope 2019 is the year I finally go up to Newcastle (and Oxford, for more than 3 hours) and visit Katie instead of making her come down to London
-Learn how to drive...something I've been putting off for a year now!
-Meet more blogging friends (I'm looking at you, Eleanor)
-See J Balvin and Maluma live
-Film 1 second everyday, I'm on day 3 and it's still going strong. I'm already looking forward to seeing the finished product!
Those are all the goals I have at the moment, there's nothing profound or groundbreaking but I like it that way. I'll probably revisit this post and add on a few more new goals as I go on. 2018 was the best year of my life which is something that has been thrown around by many others but it truly was- it had its ups and downs with the end of exams, travel, big life transitions and rough patches. I'm excited to see where this year takes me but I simultaneously don't want to think too much about it; I'll just ride the wave until it breaks.
Do you have any goals for this year? Wishing you a very very happy new year
Dalal
Love these goals Dalal <3 I've come to a similar attitude regarding my blog and I think you're so right, otherwise the fun is gone. Also a fellow London gal, let's meet up! x
ReplyDeleteLEXI LIKES
Thanks Lexi! So many people are moving their blogs onto the more professional side of things but it doesn’t appeal to me personally. We must meet the next time I’m in LDN!

Happy New Year Dalal!! Hope you had the best time in Morocco. You have so much to look forward to in 2019 and I can't wait to follow all your travels and adventures. The Jurassic coast is probably my favourite place in the UK, you soo gotta explore it!! Well done for surviving 2018, if you can survive A-levels you can do anything. lots o love xox

Thanks Lexie! Happy New Year to you too. Morocco was a dream and I’m so glad I spent my break there, it was exactly what I needed. Hahaha that’s so true!
DeleteSending that love back at ya,
Dalal x
Happy New Year! That’s so much for sharing these goals, they have certainly made me think about my own and where I might want to travel to or what hobby I might want to invest my time in. I’m sure you’ll smash yours! Good luck with your the rest of your year at uni!

Happy New Year! You’re welcome and thank you for reading. You should definitely write down whatever goals you’ve thought about and refer back to them throughout the year.

I love these goals and I hope you achieve all of them. Looking forward of more posts to come this year too!

I wish I could speak Spanish, but I failed miserably at it when I was in year 9 (yay for my grade F). Maybe I'll try and attempt to learn it again this year, or let you teach me some haha! Also, you can get through first year gal - I believe in you! Annnddd if you're heading down to Cornwall, I'd recommend visiting Falmouth - its such a gorgeous little town, albeit its quite far down but its so beautiful and I think you'll love it!
ReplyDeleteLucy | Forever September
Haha I feel like our recurring dialogue about me teaching you some Spanish needs to actually become real life...maybe some day ;) I’ve heard lots about Falmouth so I’ll definitely keep it in mind
DeleteLots of love,
Dalal
I am so jealous of you because I lowkey love history particularly Prussia and Heian Era Japan (They had great art then because it was basically the Japanese renaissance part 1(?)) Anywyay I can't wait to see what you do with your hair. Live your best life this year!!!!
ReplyDeleteHistory is the best (although I'm definitely not saying that when I look at all the piles of reading I have to do) I've never studied those eras of history but the best thing about university is that you can do a module on anything so I'll keep you updated if I ever study one of them ;) Hahaha you too gal

Such a sweet post, I actually took out a pencil and paper so that I could come back to some of your points. Spanish, I've been trying to learn it since my GCSEs and I'm still such a beginner, I'm hoping to take it seriously this year but will I? You are doing amazing and I'm so proud of you for pushing through and dealing with things the way you are, you've got first year in the bag!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all your travel content especially when you go to Seville is it? My spelling is horrendous. Reading more books is something I also want and plan to do this year but I haven't picked up one book just yet (oops). We are the same person I swear, I've been trying to record 3 seconds every day but I've definitely missed a whole week (oops x2). Loved this post Dalal!
With Love Yossy x
Ah thanks Yossy. Spanish is such a beautiful language (one of the most beautiful, in my opinion) Hahaha I'm already aware of your GCSE struggle with it but I am sure that your efforts will be more fruitful this time and it would be amazing to be able to have a conversation in it with you ;) no pressure. I actually already have a travel post on Seville on here so it'll be interesting to compile my new one and see how the two compare! We definitely are super similar although I have been sticking to filming my second everyday very religiously hahaha
DeleteLots of love,
Dalal
Good luck on your goals! I'd love to see J Balvin live too. I saw Maluma live in September and he was so good. I definitely recommend his concerts!
ReplyDeleteemjbarker.blogspot.co.uk
Thank you! Ah I'm so jealous, I was so close to going but it was during my first week of uni so I decided not to. Hopefully he has more concerts in the near future
